Home to the Howard County Wrestling
(HCW) League
Available Levels of Wrestling
Clinic - Ages 5 to 8 years,
one day a week between mid-November and February
very basic instruction, fun and games with one match at the end of the
year.
For the 2008-2009 season, the clinics will be held on Tuesdays at Long
Reach High School and on Wednesdays at Wilde Lake High School.
Recreation League - Ages 6 to 15 years, basic to intermediate
technique with two practices a week, 6-8 dual meets and two tournaments.
Teams are located at county high schools based on
availability of gym access. It is anticipated that there will be
eight Howard County recreation teams and one or two teams from
Burtonsville.
Travel - The VIPERS - advanced technique for
experienced and/or mature wrestlers. Team Vipers "A" and "B"
work together as one unit with an emphasis on conditioning, drilling,
high level technique, intensity and mental preparedness. The
VIPERS compete in the Anne Arundel County A Division and are perennial
contenders in the MD-VA State wrestling tournament, competing against
the Capital Area Wrestling League (CAWL) and the Maryland Junior
Wrestling League (MJWL).
